About the Role

The Accounts Payable Manager is an integral part of Latham’s Accounts Payable team. This role will be responsible for managing and organizing the daily operations of the Global Accounts Payable department, in addition to providing guidance and support to practice office accounts payable functions, while directly managing Accounts Payable Supervisors and other key staff of the Global Accounts Payable team, including their schedules and work activities. This role will be located in our Global Services Office in downtown Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Setting goals and objectives of the department and working with key staff to ensure they are met; ensuring accurate and prompt completion of assignments and inquiry responses; ensuring that all tasks and duties completed are done within the firm’s set guidelines and policies
  • Generating performance evaluations and recommending salary increases, working with Human Capital & Talent to recruit, hire, train, coach, and manage the performance of employees
  • Reviewing, investigating, and resolving most problems encountered by accounts payable staff
  • Working and communicating with Practice Office Accounting Managers, Supervisors, and accounting staff to ensure high level accounting support and customer service are provided to the firm
  • Assisting as necessary with vendor invoices and voucher forms to ensure accuracy in coding and compliance with firm policy; this can involve reviewing, investigating, and resolving vendor statements for delinquent amounts, daily cash receipts log, unapplied cash memos, unapplied cash status listing, discrepancies, and unidentified receipts

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving and decision-making) necessary for effective management
  • Possess knowledge of how Accounts Payable processes interact with other critical finance processes
  • Display the ability to proofread the work of others to ensure compliance and accuracy

And have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional accounting experience in finance operations and accounts payable in a similar sized organization, preferably in a global professional services environment
  • Experience with on-line banking and automated vendor and expense reporting processes
  • Experience at a global multi-office law firm, accounting firm, or other professional services organization, preferably 
  • A minimum of five (5)  years of relevant management experience, preferably 
  • Experience with Elite or comparable accounts payable software application, preferably
