About the Role

As an Attorney Support FAST Supervisor at Latham & Watkins, you will be responsible for organizing and overseeing the quality and workflow of FAST (Firm Associate Support Team). Your role involves ensuring excellence in customer service by effectively leveraging other support centers as needed. You will maintain positive and professional contact with clients, attorneys, and staff, while also acting as a mentor and providing support to your team. Your leadership will be key in fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

 

This role will be located in our Washington, D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence at least 2-3 days a week.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

 

  • Organizing, assigning, delegating, and coordinating the work of FAST across offices to ensure objectives are met in a timely manner, while also leveraging, as appropriate, additional support centers
  • Training new team members and providing ongoing support, emphasizing FAST’s commitment to excellence in customer service
  • Counselling and coaching team members around any performance deficiencies identified as well as proactively providing growth opportunities
  • Providing input to mid-year and year-end reviews
  • Responding to employee and associate concerns in a helpful and fitting manner, while directing escalated and/or complicated matters to the appropriate manager
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains 
  • Implementing continuous improvement strategies from feedback gathered by talking to FAST lawyers, local office management, and walk-arounds both in local office and while on rotations
  • Organizing, assigning, delegating, and coordinating the work of FAST across offices to ensure objectives are met in a timely manner. Will also leverage, as appropriate, additional support centers
  • Responsible for training new team members and providing ongoing support. Training will emphasize FAST’s commitment to excellence in customer service
  • Counselling and coaching team members around any performance deficiencies identified as well as proactively providing growth opportunities
  • Providing input to mid-year and year-end reviews
  • Responding to employee and associate concerns in a helpful and fitting manner, while directing escalated and/or complicated matters to the appropriate Manager
  • Ensuring lawyers are aware of resources and practices available. 
  • Ensuring team tracking of all service requests through ServiceNow ticketing system to ensure skills and capacity for work requested. Providing reports to management regarding requests made through ServiceNow
  • Working with management to identify training needs of the team, and recommending training sessions to ensure adequate team support for lawyers
  • Proactively monitoring FAST calendar to ensure appropriate staffing at all times
  • Promoting effective work practices, assisting with any projects needed by the department or staff, and showing respect for co-workers

  • Strong leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making) necessary for effective mentoring
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion
  • Organizational skills and advanced attention to detail needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, handle multiple deadlines, and create accurate work product

 

And have:

 

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a legal or professional services environment
