About the Role

The Business Development Senior Specialist – Healthcare & Life Sciences is an integral part of Latham’s Business Development (BD) team and will be responsible for playing a key role across the full marketing and business development spectrum to support the Healthcare & Life Sciences (HCLS) practice and industry groups globally, while developing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of practice and industry expertise, clients, matter experience, trade groups, and competitors. This role will be located in either our Boston, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, or New York office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with HCLS partner leadership to develop strategic plans and drive marketing efforts that maintain and grow practice and industry market positions
  • Developing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of practice and industry expertise, clients, matter experience, trade groups, and competitors
  • Ideating and driving the execution of cross-selling strategies and client targeting initiatives, including collaborating with relevant BD team members
  • Identifying and managing thought leadership and other marketing and campaign efforts, including client alerts, webcasts, and podcasts, to increase both internal and external brand awareness
  • Routinely analyzing and reporting on competition, market trends, internal financial information, business opportunities, and pitch activity in efforts to develop and implement internal and external business development and growth strategies
  • Collaborating with BD colleagues and partner stakeholders on pitches and proposals
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment, executing multiple work streams, and managing priorities effectively
  • Possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills

And have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, preferably a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance, business administration, economics, marketing, or a related field
  • A minimum of four (4) years of cumulative experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related subject matter experience and related analytical experience
