Legal Talent Manager

The Legal Talent Manager is responsible for helping to oversee all Legal Talent. This role supports the office by using experience and understanding of the legal and competitive market landscape to strategically plan and implement the Legal Talent goals and objectives of the office and departments. The manager is involved with strategic planning for associate-related matters and helping the office’s committees achieve their goals and objectives, with a particular focus on pro bono, public service, community engagement, associate development and mentoring. This role will be located in our New York office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Other key responsibilities include:

• Helping to oversee the legal talent function, supporting office's committees in the integration, onboarding, training, and development of associates and other legal professionals as needed from day one, as well as, managing legal talent initiatives, events, associate mentoring, pro bono, public service, and community engagement programs, and office budgets to ensure a seamless transition and alignment with the firm's culture and values
• Staying abreast of current and pending employment laws, market trends, and competitor policies
• Supporting strategic initiatives of the firm’s management committees by developing and maintaining relationships with office leadership and recommending changes to enhance the firm's competitive edge
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with firm leaders and industry leaders
• Providing continuous benchmarking and gathering best practices information through participation in local, regional, and national associations while also supplying research, analyzing data, and generating reports to support the firm's strategic goals and maintain a robust professional network
• Leading and guiding a team that supports the manager and the firm in all endeavors, as well as cultivating team members’ professional growth through mentorship and development opportunities, while efficiently organizing and distributing work to manage workflow and resources effectively, especially during peak periods, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
• Completing special projects as needed
• Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains 
  

We’d love to hear from you if you:

• Possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, including organizing, planning, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making, and effective interaction with all organizational levels
• Demonstrate proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office, database management, and applicant tracking systems, with the ability to conduct thorough analyses and reports
• Exhibit the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion

And have:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably a JD or equivalent
• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in legal talent or professional services
• A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a related field, preferably
