About the Role

The Financial Information Center (FIC) Regional Lead is an integral part of Latham’s Global Finance team. Our team hails from a wide range of industries and spans the globe, with a presence in Hong Kong, London, Manchester, Los Angeles, and New York. This role will leverage financial data and a robust, in-depth understanding of the Firm’s revenue metrics and the Firm’s business to provide analytical insight on key strategic issues. In this role, you will collaborate directly with the firm’s most senior leaders, the firm’s partners and associates, and our peers in Business Development, Attorney Development, Pro Bono, Knowledge Management, and Strategic Library Services. The work improves client retention, accelerates inventory turnover, optimizes attorney staffing, reduces fee write-offs, evaluates the strengths and opportunities of our legal practices, and assesses the strategic value of current clients.  This role will be located in our New York office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, developing, and maintaining new opportunities for the FIC team by collaborating with cross-functional teams and leveraging insights to enhance meaningful outcomes and cross-functional relationships
  • Leveraging project management principles to manage firmwide financial projects and complete other complex financial requests needed by department management
  • Applying business, economic, finance, and accounting principles to the firm’s internal financial data to help firm leaders simplify and ultimately solve complex problems, while leveraging SAP Business Objects to query data and Excel to effectively and efficiently synthesize that data
  • Ensuring emails received through the team’s shared email are handled in a timely, professional manner, including prioritizing urgent requests and ensuring effective handoff with the team in the next time zone
  • Developing standard tools for reporting and analyzing data
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

  • Possess excellent analytical skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and proactively identify opportunities for improvement and innovation within the team
  • Display the ability to work in a team environment with a customer-service focus

And have:

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of analytical experience in finance or accounting
  • A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience at a professional services organization, preferably
