About the Role

The Senior Analyst, Intellectual Property & Technology is an integral part of Latham’s Legal Professional and Paralegal team. This role will be responsible for utilizing field-specific training and expertise to support the litigation team in intellectual property cases, particularly patent litigation, while leveraging subject matter expertise to analyze technical issues related to intellectual property litigation, specifically, software, electronics, and semiconductor technologies. This role will be located in either our New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Century City, Silicon Valley, or San Francisco office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

 

  • Consulting and collaborating with technical experts to analyze hardware and software technologies and patents
  • Drafting and reviewing technical reports and analyses in support of litigation
  • Distilling complex scientific concepts and explaining them in terms understandable to non-scientists
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical witnesses for their deposition and trial testimony and developing exhibits for trial
  • Reviewing and analyzing patents in complex technical fields
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains 

 

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Possess excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making)
  • Demonstrate well-developed and professional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
  • Display the ability to work in a team environment with a customer-service focus

 

And have:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, preferably
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ post-graduate IP-related experience (e.g., industry position with some involvement in or responsibility for IP strategy), preferably
  • Patent bar qualification, preferably
