About the Role

The Business Development Senior Advisor is an integral part of Latham’s Business Development (BD) team. This role will be responsible for driving the strategic adoption and optimization of relevant Client Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, based on Microsoft Dynamics, across the firm, while driving new revenue by partnering with BD teams and partner leadership to launch BD and client engagement initiatives, in addition to enabling effective transitions to practice, industry, or market professionals to ensure continued and effective execution of initiatives, and delivering reports and recommendations to senior leadership to shape the evolution of the Marketing Technology (MarTech) function. This role will be located in our New York office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the identification and documentation of business requirements, collaborating with BD teams and partners to solve business challenges, supporting business plans and BD efforts, protecting relationships, and improving efficiency 
  • Identifying opportunities to leverage relevant CRM and other elements of the MarTech stack to sharpen, deploy, and monitor business planning, as well as developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and enablement tools, and serving as a senior point of contact to ensure the efficient operation of CRM tools, while partnering with data analytics teams to leverage data for business intelligence 
  • Designing and delivering targeted training programs for diverse user groups, facilitating user feedback sessions, championing peer-to-peer learning, and working closely with technology trainers and BD professionals on continuous learning programming 
  • Developing use case libraries, workflows, advanced analytics, and success metrics, while conducting needs assessments and creating business cases for system enhancements, including the adoption and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in CRM tools, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of client engagement technology 
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with firm leadership and subject matter experts to gather essential feedback on materials, while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure business development activities are unified, consistent, and aligned with firm goals, coordinating with BD and partner leadership to ensure messaging alignment and stakeholder buy-in, and monitoring adoption metrics to develop corrective action campaigns 
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains 

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Possess deep subject matter expertise in CRM platforms (Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar enterprise systems) and the ability to build and deliver training programs on relevant MarTech platforms, including adult learning principles and learning modalities 
  • Demonstrate a robust understanding of the sales cycle, sales pipeline, and processes to create successful outcomes, in addition to an understanding of legal industry business development processes, including client relationship management, pitch preparation, and cross-selling strategies 
  • Exhibit exceptional and professional interpersonal skills (e.g., active listening), including superior written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels 

And have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Technology, or a related field  
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree, preferably 
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible business development and marketing experience in a legal or professional services environment  
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of cumulative experience
